One quote I always hear about Missouri: “If you don’t like the weather now, just wait a few hours!” That was definitely the case for Ashley and Skyelar’s engagement session! It was snowing last Sunday morning, but ended up being in the upper 60s later that afternoon.
And behind every engagement session is the story. I asked Ashley how that gorgeous ring came to be on her finger, and … this has got to be one of my all-time favorite pop the question stories.
Let’s set the scene. It was three days before Halloween. Skyelar and Ashley were going to dress as Vanessa and Wade from “Deadpool.” For a quick fill-in, Wade turns into Deadpool — and Vanessa is his girlfriend. Here’s a shot from the movie:
Here’s where it gets funny. Ashley thought it would be hilarious to get a Ring Pop like from the movie … and then chase Skyelar around with it, trying to poke his butt.
Ashley told us she was standing there telling her friends about her grand Ring Pop butt plan, when Skyelar asks her which hand she would plan to wear the Ring Pop on — this was apparently a mistake.
From Ashley: “I look at him very seriously, because he knows this is a costume and I’m very serious about these things, and I was like ‘my left hand? It’s … like her engagement ring.’ He then asks me if I’m sure about that and I start waving my arms up in the air because I’m like, ‘why wouldn’t I?'”
“And when I turned around, he was on his knee and I yelled at him because I thought he was kidding. He opened the box and I exclaimed, ‘oh my God, you are not kidding, oh my God!!!'”
That’s definitely not a Ring Pop. 😉
Dawn said she could tell how happy they were throughout the shoot — and as you can see, it’s shining through in all of their photos! Skyelar was being super silly, so the happy couple was laughing a lot. We love genuine smiles!
