“Get The Suture Kit!” Bret & Hannah’s Cliffside Wedding

Yes, there was a suture kit. And an IV bag. And 7 medical professionals in the wedding party alone! But we’ll get to that in a moment.

We had the great pleasure of capturing Bret & Hannah’s beautiful cliffside wedding this Saturday! I could sit here and try to explain its beauty, but a picture is worth a thousand words, right?

IMG_4285.jpgHannah Bret 3

Tatiana and I both made the trip out to Sunset Bluffs in Washington, Missouri, and was it ever worth it! We couldn’t have paid to capture shots in such a beautiful venue.

The cliff itself is reserved for the bride, groom, and photographers. It was like our own little slice of Heaven away from the hubbub of the cocktail hour after the ceremony.

IMG_4361.jpg

It was a beautiful 66-degrees … ALL day! It was perfectly overcast, like God was smiling down on these two lovebirds and telling them: “This is your day! And it is a beautiful one!”

IMG_3458.jpg

Compare this weekend to last weekend — where it reached 105 degrees! What a stark difference, and just in time for their vows! I’ll take 66 over 105 any ol’ day!

The wind was also cooperating, blowing just right and fluffing Hannah’s veil for shots like this:

Crawford (13).jpg

And we can’t forget our main man, Elijah! Not only was he “ring security,” but he played an integral part in the wedding! He was a big helper, and super excited to help out his dad and new mom!

Crawford.jpgHannah Bret 4.jpg

His cheeser is so adorable! He was such a sport through all of the photos!

Now, let’s get to that medical staff we mentioned earlier. Of Hannah’s “Bride Tribe,” as she called it, there were two EMTs, one paramedic, one radiology tech, and an RN. When a bridesmaid was having trouble with her dress zipper, all of these medical field people started whipping out all the bells and whistles to fix it. A suture kit, and IV needle, you name it!

Crawford (3).jpg

They were going to fix that darn dress before show time!

Crawford (17).jpg

And all of these medical professionals I’ve mentioned so far were just on Hannah’s side! This doesn’t include Bret’s groomsmen, or all of their friends not in the wedding party. Like, all of these firefighters Bret works with, for example —

Crawford (18).jpg

Even the bride and groom! Hannah is a paramedic, and Bret is a paramedic firefighter. If anyone had any health issues that night … they were in good hands!

Although, if it was at the end of the night, maybe in very good tipsy hands … but, hey!

Crawford (19).jpg

We are so honored to have been there to capture special moments for Bret & Hannah. Things like the joy written across her mom’s face when she saw her daughter:

Crawford (6).jpg

Or the look on Bret’s face when he finally saw Hannah for the first time:

Crawford (8).jpg

Or the finishing touches on Hannah’s dress:

Crawford (5).jpg

Plus, their unique ideas! Hannah had a “Man of Honor,” in her wedding party. It was her very (not gay) best friend, Max! I only included his sexual orientation because during his speech at the reception, he pointed out that Hannah used to introduce him to people as her “gay best friend.” Seeing as his beautiful girlfriend, Amanda, was in the wedding party, he pointed out only the “best friend” part was true.

Crawford (14).jpg

There are so many more photos I’d love to put into this blog, but I would be up all night editing. I can’t get enough of the beautiful location, the gorgeous bride and groom, and their adorable little Elijah!

Thank you for letting us be there for your special day!

They Tied The Knot With PB&J. Seriously! Tara and Luke’s Lakeside Wedding!

This Saturday, we had the pleasure of celebrating with Tara and Luke as they tied the knot at Lake Tapawingo!

Tara Luke 8

Tara and Luke booked our Chiffon package, which is 3 hours of awesome wedding magic!

Starting with … the First Look!

Tara Luke 2

I hid Luke behind a tree so he wouldn’t see Tara until the perfect moment.

Tara Luke 3

When he did see his gorgeous bride, he couldn’t stop smiling!

Tara Luke 5

Tara decided to go with blush pink and white for the colors of her special day. Such a gorgeous choice!

Tara Luke 1

Her bridesmaids were beautiful, too!

Tara Luke 18.jpg

Luke’s groomsmen really got into the loving spirit of the wedding, complete with prom poses —

Tara Luke 13

… and reenacting scenes from the Titanic (spoiler: they let go).

Tara Luke 12 Luke and Tara met through a mutual friend back in 2012, and Tara refers to Luke as her “real-life Prince Charming.”

Tara Luke 10

The lovebirds met when Zane was 2 months old, and Luke fell in love with Tara’s babies right then, too!

Tara Luke 17

Allison and Zane were both thrilled to see their mother so happy with such an amazing man! With Drew, their youngest, they make such a wonderful family!

Tara Luke 19.jpg

Although, Drew was pretty camera shy. It’s okay, though. He didn’t want to take away the spotlight!

The ceremony was incredibly sweet, with Tara’s brother, Michael, as the officiant.

Tara Luke 20

Now, this next part was a first for us. Tara & Luke came up with the most unique wasy to symbolize their love during the ceremony! Since they go so perfectly together like peanut butter and jelly, they made a PB&J sandwich to celebrate the big day!

Tara Luke 16

Tara and Luke are the perfect match and their love inspires everyone around them.

Tara Luke 15

Help us congratulate Tara and Luke on their eternally happy future together!

Moodboard Monday: Timeless Romance!

I think we can all agree that love is timeless. It’s lasted throughout centuries, lives on through our hearts every day, and it will be here long after we’re gone.

What reminds you of the people you love?

Sometime it can be something extravagant or obvious, like flowers delivered at your work.

Today for this moodboard, we are going to celebrate the little details. The hidden treasures that love leaves behind to make you smile fondly from memories shared.

Lighting:

Belzer 5

Setting a romantic mood starts with the lighting. Whether it’s a candlelit dinner or a dimmed out room, soft lighting always creates a touch of romance in the air.

Although, from a photographers perspective- bright natural lighting does plenty of love for our subjects!

Sparkle and Shine:

Belzer 35

Although it’s no requirement of love to shower your partner with gifts, they are still aesthetically pleasing for this mood! Diamonds and Pearls, like one of our wedding packages, sparks a number of emotions for me.

My grandmother gave me my first string of real pearls to mark me becoming a woman (she was from Tennessee so southern traditions were a big deal). The love I hold for her is timeless and those pearls will be passed down to my daughter someday!

Diamonds remind most people of an engagement ring, but my ring is an opal. When I think of Diamonds, I think of the sparkle and shine of the lake when Eric took me out on our first date.

Eyes that sparkle after the first kiss can also be reflected in a diamond.

Keys:

Allen Wedding (104)

I love the symbolism of keys! I have two key tattoos on my arm that represent my trip to Spain and France. Keys are a big deal!

Everyone knows the cheesy phrasing “unlock the key to your heart”.

It holds so much meaning and comes with incredible risk to fully open up your heart. To let someone in, or “give them the key”, is an act of courage. Your defenses are down, you leave yourself vulnerable, and you risk locking your heart up forever if things go south.

But in love, you can’t think about the consequences- because the positives of love are so much more rewarding! Take the risk and open the door.

Tradition:

Belzer 158

Love is very much a tradition in our culture but these shoes have a nostalgic notion all in themselves!

This bride wore the same shoes her grandmother wore to her wedding- over 60 years ago!

Traditions hold good luck and touching memories for generations to come.

When He Saw Her, He Sobbed Joyously: Beth and Zach’s Summer Wedding!

Tatiana here to showcase our latest lovey dovey celebration: Beth & Zach’s wedding!

You may remember these two from our October fall frenzy when we did their engagement shoot at Union Station.

23799936_1500230713417427_3073159884933407152_o

Fast Forward to this Saturday, and Beth was getting ready for her magical walk down the aisle!

Beth Zach 3.jpg

Her dress was classy and elegant, paired with a dainty string of pearls. So pretty!

Speaking of pearls, Beth and Zach chose our “Diamonds and Pearls” package, which included getting ready and first look photos.

Beth found us on Facebook and knew she had to book us after being an avid follower of our page (seriously, thank you for the support!).

The clouds were big and poofy, but thankfully the ceremony and reception were inside since we were pushing 100 degrees! YIKES!

Beth Zach 11

The reason Beth and Zach chose the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) as the location is because her grandfather is a member. Thank you so much for serving our country!

“First Look” was very tactful on Beth’s part because she had to hide behind this shed until Zach was placed.

Beth Zach 5

When the reveal finally happened, the reaction was overwhelming!

Beth Zach 8

One glimpse and Zach was sobbing. These moments RIGHT here are why we always recommend a first look! Capturing this special moment between just the bride and groom always brings tears to our eyes, too!

Beth Zach 7

It took Zach a moment to compose himself, but honestly that’s what every bride hopes for. 😉

It wouldn’t be a wedding without family, and this one was actually run by theirs! Beth’s grandma made this gorgeous cake and everyone chipped in for the catering.

Beth Zach 14

Beth also had angel wings on her bouquet to honor the family members no longer with them.

Beth Zach 13

And transitioning into the bouquet, here’s a closeup with their dazzling rings! The jewels and blue lillies are breathtaking!

Beth Zach 15

When we tell people to “cheer” during the family photos, we never know how people are going to react. This family definitely gave us what we were hoping for!

Family is very important to Zach and Beth, and we couldn’t have pulled off such great wedding party photos without them.

Beth Zach 9

No, but really WE COULDN’T! Because the wedding party was all family! They were a tight knit bunch!

Beth Zach 10

These two are truly blessed to have such devoted and loving family to support them.

Beth Zach 12

Whose smiles are as equally as bright as that summer heat — whew!

Beth Zach 19

We wish Beth and Zach all the best at Kansas City Photography!

Beth Zach 1.jpg

Let L-O-V-E lead the way! <3

‘The Hunt Is Over’ – Samantha and Zachary’s Wedding!

Tatiana here! I’m sharing another magical day featuring Samantha and Zachary Jennings!

You may remember this lovely couple and their “duck-duck” daughter from their engagement photos.

Salmon 11

Sam and Zach selected our “Diamonds and Pearls” package, which included engagement photos and all-day wedding photos, which included getting ready shots, first look, etc.

Zachary was adamant about not seeing Samantha until she walked down the aisle. So much so, we had to hide him in a closet while I took Sam and her bridesmaids out to the garden for photos before the ceremony!

Sam Zach Wedding 9

Super worth it! Look at these gorgeous ladies in Christine’s favorite color!

Sam Zach Wedding 4

Their venue was the Rhapsody in Independence, which was not short of elegance! It’s such a lovely location!

Sam Zach Wedding 12

They created the perfect atmosphere catered to the soon-to-be newlyweds, and their customer service was out of this world!

Sam Zach Wedding 6

I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone in the KCMO area. <3

Uhm, and did I mention the waterfall?

Sam Zach Wedding 1

Cuz there’s a waterfall! It certainly made up for when we went to Bass Pro for their engagement shoot and the falls were OFF! #notoverit

The Rhapsody has a separate building referred to as “the cottage,” which serves as the Bridal Suite. They are currently constructing a separate building for the Groom and Groomsmen as well.

Sam Zach Wedding 2

This couch was perfect for “getting ready” shots and close-ups of the details in the wedding dress.

Sam Zach Wedding 7

It’s also perfect for seeing Samantha’s radiant glow as she transformed from woman to bride!

Sam Zach Wedding 11

Sam’s flower girls were always ready for their closeup, including Samantha’s beautiful daughter, Louella, in the middle! I got more smiles outta her this time!

Sam Zach Wedding 8

Little Lou thought her momma looked like a princess, and on this day she truly was!

Sam Zach Wedding 13

Zachary definitely thought it was worth the suspense of waiting to see her — there are some tears swelling up in his glasses!

When they finally heard “you may kiss the bride” these two were inseparable once again — no more hiding in utility closets needed!

Sam Zach Wedding 14

Of course, that didn’t stop their friends and family from trying to snag them away for congratulations.

Sam Zach Wedding 15

Don’t worry, there’s plenty of love to go around!

Sam Zach Wedding 3

Their rings glistened and sparkled in the bright sunlight — which was INTENSE! I’m sure Zach’s head got a nice red glow … because I still have a sunburn! lol

Sam Zach Wedding 16

We know Zachary and Samantha’s love will burn bright just as the sun.

Sam Zach Wedding 17

Thank you so much for letting Kansas City Photography be a part of your special day!

Nostalgic and Timeless: Beth and Josh’s Vintage Wedding!

We’re kicking off the new year in style with our first wedding of the year — Bethany and Josh Belzer! And wait until you hear the story about her dress!

Belzer 29

We are besides ourselves myself with glee to share with you this gorgeous wedding venue and our experience with this phenomenal couple. You may remember Beth and Josh from their fall engagement shoot. If not, it was my delightful surprise to walk in and see all of the photos from their shoot framed at the entrance!

Belzer 1

Nothing could have prepared me for how inspiring and darling this venue was. Seriously, it’s Pinterest goals.

Belzer 2

Acquiant Gathering is a vintage, shabby chic venue that has a photo opportunity literally at every corner!

Belzer 3

The bridal suite had an array of cute little props and precious decor, perfect for anyone with a vintage aesthetic. But enough gushing about this photographers dream playground — let’s drool over this DRESS.

Belzer 6.jpg

Beth found her gorgeous gown at a vintage shop. It wasn’t labeled as a wedding dress — and was priced at only $80!! Vintage for the win!

I’m still not over the lace! Seriously, it is the embodiment of elegance and class, as was our bride, Beth!

Belzer 13

She is a Vintage VIXEN! <3

Or as Beth would put it — a professional lounger.

Her mother was moved to tears to see Beth’s transformation from daughter to bride!

Belzer 11.jpg

Beth and Josh created a custom wedding package, which we’re always happy to do! This included “getting ready” shots and our personal favorite moment — “the first look“.

Belzer 14

The Bridal Suite had two entrance doors and this giant wardrobe that was perfect to stage the first look moment.

Belzer 16.jpg

We typically prefer to do outside first looks because it’s hard to beat Mother Nature’s lighting, but the natural lighting was BOMB in this room! Couldn’t. Pass. It. Up!

Belzer 17

Beth was hoping to get some tears from Josh, but got a big twirl and smooch instead! It’s okay, I saw him getting super choked up. He couldn’t take his eyes off her — or his hands.

Belzer 24

Let’s all just appreciate how quirky and adorable these two are!

Now, here’s where I realized I’m too obsessed with “The Greatest Showman” and will do anything for the perfect shot.

I was able to take advantage of the chandelier a couple of times during Beth’s getting ready shots. This was the less dangerous time where I put my camera lens through the sleeve of her dress to capture the lace!

Belzer 5

The next time I used the chandelier to my advantage required balancing two chairs on top of each other, one foot in the air, and a lot of focus — both from myself and the camera.

Belzer 21

Yup. I got the crazy idea to shoot THROUGH THE CHANDELIER.

Worth it!

Not only was the theme vintage, but the wedding was filled with personal history and nostalgia from both the bride and groom.

Belzer 10

The shoes Beth wore for her walk down the aisle were the same shoes her grandmother wore on her big day MORE THAN 60 YEARS AGO! How freaking amazing is that?! Her earrings also belonged to Josh’s grandmother, and Beth’s stepfather officiated for them.

Belzer 18.jpg

They were surrounded by the history of love in their families as they came together to celebrate becoming one family. Truly touching!

Belzer 23

Kansas City Photoraphy wishes you all the best! Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day!

Christine’s 7 Most Romantic Photoshoots of 2017!

2017 was full of amazing photoshoots! From anime conventions to a haunted winery — we had a lot of fun!

But I really wanted to “focus in” (get it? Hahaha) on some of my most romantic photoshoots from 2017. Because why not start off the new year with a little bit of love?

Lindsey & Dan Fall (7)

This isn’t a favorites list, just some fond and romantic memories from 2017!

1. Bret & Hannah

I’ve known Bret since college, and was tickled when he filled me in on his secret proposal plan for his then-girlfriend, Hannah!

As far as romance goes — it’s hard to beat a surprise proposal!

Bret & Hannah (1)

Bret’s grand plan was to drive Hannah out to the wineries for their anniversary, so she thought he was being sweet and celebrating that. She didn’t realize he was going to pull out a ring! Now, a tornado watch was also in effect on the day of the proposal, because Mother Nature does what she wants.

Bret & Hannah (26)

Bret & I had a “secret spy mission” going so we could talk about the proposal in secret. You can read more about this fun shoot, here.

2. Lindsey & Dan

Lindsey and Dan made the list because they are so in love, they booked two engagement shoots! Dan loves hockey, so the first shoot was done at an ice rink. Look closely at the scoreboard – that’s actually their wedding date!

IMG_8677IMG_8622

The second shoot was a more country setting, which was Lindsey’s dream! Plus, she had 7 outfits all planned out, with what shots she wanted in each outfit. She is the most prepared bride ever!

3. Genevieve, Theodore, Elena, & Jaxton!

And love leads to babies!!!

Let’s start with Jenn and James. They were so tickled to welcome their baby girl, Genevieve, into the world in 2017. She is their first, and very loved by all their friends and family!

Genevieve (15)Genevieve (16)

But 2017 also welcomed other baby cuties that Christine was tickled pink about! Three of Christine’s very best friends all had them within months of each other!!

Mr. TJ (Amanda & Jordan) and Miss Elena (Steve & Alyssa) need to be highlighted, too! Elena actually POOPED on me during her shoot.

Plus, Christine’s little nephew was born this year. His name is Jaxton! SO MANY CUTE SNUGGLES WERE HAD!!!

TJ also gave everyone quite a scare. Amanda went into labor early.

IMG_7400.jpg

He was in the NICU after birth, but he’s a tough lil’ guy!! Plus, his guard dog, Truman, is always at the ready! 😉

4. Emily & Stephen

Romance in the windy city! Emily is another one of my dear college friends. We worked together at the state Capitol and graduated from Mizzou together! I try to make it to Chicago at least once a year to visit — and after Stephen’s proposal … it was a must to make it out there ASAP!

Emily & Stephen (3)Emily & Stephen (8)

With the romantic backdrop of Chicago against the water, it was a breathtaking photoshoot to celebrate their love!

5. Katherine & Josh

These two lovebirds just couldn’t stop kissing each other! I mean, of course it was their wedding day, but even during their engagement session, they kept sneaking little kisses! It was so adorable. A peck on the end of her nose, a kiss ever so gently on his cheek. It just made me squeak from the romance of it all!

Plus, Josh loves kissing Kathy’s hand!

Katherine & Josh (43)Heriford (82)

6. Oye Engagement

I really wanted to highlight this adorable engagement shoot because these two lovebirds are in a long distance relationship, but they still made it work!

Months ago, Oye asked Sayo hypothetically, “If I happened to ask you to marry me, what would be your answer?”

Sayo gets so many bonus point for her answer: “You have to ask to find out!”

Sayo & Oye (7).jpg

The happy couple is getting married back on the East coast in South New Jersey at Lucien’s Manor this October.

Sayo & Oye (1).jpg

7. Jeremy & Amanda

This was definitely one of the most romantic settings this year – a gorgeous wedding at a country club.

Jeremy & Amanda (2)Jeremy & Amanda (11)

Amanda & Jeremy had the entire property to themselves. It was spacious, and beautiful, both the land on the outside and the property on the inside! Bright grass, tall trees, a white picket fence surrounding the roadway, plus a deck to stand on.

Jeremy & Amanda (304)Jeremy & Amanda (322)

We hope you had some romantic moments in 2017, and many more in 2018! After all, love makes the world go ’round!

Tatiana’s Top 5 Most Memorable Photoshoots of 2017!

Happy New Year! Tatiana here to reflect on 2017, my first year with Kansas City Photography!

img_9935

Man, this year has had so many wonderful memories and I’ve had the privilege of working with so many amazing people! This in by no means is a “favorites” list, just a list of bizarre or unique things that occurred during these shoots, in no particular order.

Halee Senior Photo 3

Although none of my shoots are without their surprises! Like how a drain randomly started spraying water on Halee during her senior photo session.

But let’s start off the list with an intentional surprise:

1. A Surprise Proposal

Tony Katie 3

Tony had reached out to us after discovering our blog to construct a surprise proposal for his now fiance, Katie. Yup, she obvs said yes! We chose Unity Village for their location as it’s in our top 10 locations in Kansas City.

This was my first surprise proposal shoot so I channeled my inner ninja for maximum impact.

Tony Katie 7

And what an impact it was! Katie was so shocked that as I was right in her face with the camera, she still had no idea what was going on. “Oh my Gawd” was the main phrase of the evening. Hey, Tony! If you’re reading this, I know a fabulous wedding photographer. 😉

2. A Severe Weather Evacuation

Natalie Dance 1

Sweet Natalie was thrilled to show off her technique and dancing skills for me at Unity Village.

Natalie Dance 9

I seriously can’t believe how talented she is! I’m sure she’s truly a force to be reckoned with now since a few months have passed and she has practiced even more! Another powerful force was awakening in the clouds during this shoot, and for the first time ever, the intercom boomed through the gardens, asking us to evacuate due to severe weather!

Natalie Dance 4

Luckily we were able to get some stellar shots before the rain came pouring down.

3. A Photoshoot On The Go

Jaclyn Jam 4.jpg

Jaclyn and Jam’s engagement shoot was set to take place in Burr Oaks Conservation Center, but when we arrived it was CLOSED due to an organized hunt. Improvising, we went to a park nearby which was halfway closed due to a construction project.

Jaclyn Jam 2.jpg

We were able to get some heartwarming shots but I knew we needed MORE! So, we packed up and went to our third location: Bass Pro Lake!

Jaclyn Jam 5

As the old cliche goes, the third time’s the charm! Although we weren’t planning on our nomadic adventure, the new and final location was so worth it!

4. On Location in Denver, Colorado

Ashlee Craig 2

Traveling to Denver and working in a new state was full of fond memories! I was able to take advantage of new locations and scenary such as the Adam’s County Fairgrounds where I was able to capture Ashlee and Craig with this romantic sunset backdrop.

Nausicaa 3.jpg

I also represented the company at NDK, where we implemented “on location” cosplay photography specials. This was such a treat for me because cosplay is a huge passion of mine and I was able to connect with so many talented ladies! Here’s one of those ladies, Bad Emu Cosplay in her Nausicaa cosplay at the Capitol building.

Super SM 8.jpg

Another cosplayer who booked us was Belle Mich Cosplay, who cosplayed from everyone’s favorite anime: Sailor Moon!

I’m itching to go back there in April and take advantage of all the new locations I discovered in downtown Denver, including the Civic’s Center Park with these stunning pillars! If you’re in the area, let me know and we can set something up! <3

5. The Longest Shoot of the Year

Wedding Party 35

Well, of course it’s a wedding! Aftin and Anthony booked us for the largest wedding package we offer, and I had the privilege of capturing every intimate and extravagant moment with them for over nine hours!

Getting Ready 44

This gorgeous couple wanted to celebrate every moment of their magical day, so it was my job to capture every first glace to each step down the aisle!

First Look 7.jpg

From the teary eyed first look (I’m not crying, YOU’RE crying!)

Fam 8

to each stolen kiss in between family photos, I was on it! It was the longest shoot of the year, and it was so genuine and mystical every step of the way! Congratulations again, Aftin and Anthony! <3

Here are my “Honorable Mentions” I just couldn’t leave out:

Xaiver 23

My little baby nephew Xavier came into this world July 3rd, 2017- which happens to also be my anniversary with Eric! <3 I need to get this precious squish ball behind the lens again!

Ashley Skyelar Engagement 4.jpg

My very first shoot with Kansas City Photography this year was a truly emotional one. I was able to capture my best friend, Ashley, and her fiance Skyelar for their engagement photos! Of course, Christine is going to be handling the photography at their wedding since I’m the maid of honor. She actually surprise proposed to ME at her engagement shoot! (Photo taken by the talented Dawn!)

ashley-and-skyler-engagement-471-copy

Love you both, and I can’t wait to take some updated pictures in April. <3

That wraps up my list for 2017! I can’t wait to see what this new year has in store.

Top 3 Reasons Why You Should Get Engagement Photos!

Whether it’s a surprise proposal or a part of your wedding package, we are always thrilled to capture the magic of an engagement!

Jaclyn Jam 6

But what makes these photos so essential? Why get engagement photos taken after you’ve posted the big bling to your snapchat crew?

Well, we can tell you a bunch of reasons why engagement photos are a must-have, but as professional photographers, we may come off as a bit bias. So, we brought the question to our clients and we narrowed it down to 3 solid reasons.

Lindsey & Dan Fall (2).jpg

1. From “You/Me” to “We”

You’ve found the person you want to share the rest of your life with, and you’re ready to take the next step down the aisle. Your journey doesn’t start after you say “I do” and it’s not the beginning of your romantic relationship. It is the first chapter in creating a family unit within each other. The evolution to being two people in love to becoming one single force.

Beth Josh 6

Beth made us realize that it’s not just about romance, but also about family when I asked her why her engagement photos were important to her:

Beth Josh 10

“It was our first time having professional photos taken of us as a couple–as a unit. When I saw them for the first time it was like seeing us as a real family.”

That really put it in perspective! A start of a family is something to be honored and preserved for the rest of your legacy.

Another client of ours, Bret, shared a similar sentiment. “I wanted to get engagement photos to record the moment for ourselves at the very least. I’m certainly glad I did.”

Bret & Hannah (20).jpg

Plus, without engagement photos, the only professional photos you’ll have of yourselves is in wedding attire! Not that you won’t be stunning, but do you want your walls filled with only photos from the wedding, or a good mix?

2. Remembering and Renewing

“Until death do us part” can be a little intimidating … literally your entire life! During that time, Samantha put it perfectly how important her engagement photos will be for her in later years:

Salmon 28

“Ten years from now we can look upon our photos and see all the ups and down we have had over the years. Everything we have accomplished within the ten years or even farther in the future. When we have grand children and we’re gray and old, I want to share where it all started.”

One of our brides, Katherine, told us it’s all about memories —

Katherine & Josh (47)

For me it’s a big part of making memories. It’s a way to look back and remember all the love that each one shares as you enter a new stage of your relationship. Bonus is if you use them for save the dates you share those memories with everyone else!”

Katherine & Josh (8).jpg

“I want to be able to look an reflect on the moment long after it has past. Memory is great, but having the pictures to look back at can really put you back in the moment. Our engagement wasn’t even a year ago and I love looking at these pictures and remembering Hannah’s reaction and subsequent answer, or… erm, reaction… (She snatched the ring and put it on. Once she had realized she needed to answer, it went from there). It a part of our story which has been recorded for us,” Bret said.

Bret & Hannah (58).jpg

Seeing the glimmer in your eye looking at your partner at the very beginning is truly a treasure! Renewing your love by seeing where you’ve been — very powerful stuff in a photo!

3. Timeless Happiness before “Happily Ever After”

The wedding day is going to be such a monumental memory in your lives and all those attending to celebrate your eternal love.

IMG_1392

Engagement photos give you the opportunity to celebrate your love one-on-one without all the pressure of the time crunch to get the ceremony going and keeping your guests entertained. Just you and your partner, ever so in love, making memories with each glance and smile.

And of course, us recording it all for your personal history book!

Beth Zach 8

Beth Franklin is always touched by the history she sees when looking through her mother’s photos:

“I love looking back at my parents old photos and seeing what everyone looked like and seeing how happy they are. I hope that one day our kids will have the same feelings when they look back on ours.”

Beth Zach 18

Timeless photos don’t just happen on the big day! You’re creating beautiful memories everyday.

Tony Katie 3

Let us not only capture the “I do,” but the moment you said “yes!”

As Bret told us: “Putting a scene to the story can give the moment that little something extra when you tell friends or put a photo book together.”

Beth has been following our Facebook page for awhile, so when we met for coffee she already knew we were a good choice — thanks so much, girl! We love our fans!

The first time we tried to schedule the shoot, I ended up getting sicker than a dog. Even though we tried again for the next weekend, Beth ended up catching a cold the next day! I’m so glad we were able to make it work before the leaves fell completely. Fall waits for no one!

This tree was our magical spot right down the hill between Union Station and the Liberty Memorial.

This tree had the perfect Fall feel and gorgeous leaves for Beth’s favorite shot from our last engagement shoot — thanks, Christine and Pinterest!

Zach works as a truck driver so any time spent at home is precious to both of them.

Beth and Zach have known each other for about 2 years and are as happy as can be! Zach proposed to Beth at a Royals game. He was so nervous when he saw security having people empty out their pockets, because he didn’t want to ruin the big moment!

Thankfully, the ring stayed in his pocket. Finally, at the ninth inning, he asked and of course she said yes!

See you soon on the big day! <3
